Maturitní téma z angličtiny – My family
My name is Peter, I am nineteen years old, and I have lived together with my parents and one younger sister in our own three-room flat in Jedovnice for all the time.
At first, let me talk about these members of my nuclear family.
My father’s name is Peter as well. He is thirty-nine and works as a designer. He is rather slender, has an oblong face, short straight black hair and does not wear a moustache and wears glasses. He’s keen on cars races and cars at all, interested in some sports such as football or hokey. Besides, he plays skittles by himself and is fairly good at it. Next, he listens to some music, or watches good films sometimes after work.
My mother’s name is Drahomíra and she’s forty years old. She works in a bookbinding department as a binder. She is slender too, has middle figure and light wavy hair. Her big hobby is our little doggy and cultivating vegetables on balcony in summer because, I’m afraid, we don’t have a garden. She likes watching soap operas on television and relaxing in her free time, I guess. Of course, she takes care about household and brings up my adolescent sister.
My sister’s name is Adriana, she’s fourteen and she is a pupil of basic school. She’s also slim, has a long dark hair and wears glasses only for reading. She likes reading very much. She is probably really pretty because one year ago she became Miss of her school. She plays clarinet, sings, draws, practises aerobics. We share our room with each other but we usually get on well even if she is quite disorderly and I am mostly orderly. In future she wants to be a teacher at basic school or work as a cosmetician. Because of the low age of hers, I have no brother in-law and haven’t any nephew nor niece. Maybe, some day I will.
And now, there are some more relatives in my wide family, meaning two grandmothers and grandfathers, two uncles but only one aunt and one cousin.
My first grandparents are completely different then the other ones, but I like them all. My mother’s mother seems active, often nervous and phlegmatic to me whereas my father’s mother is calm, kind and mainly comfortable. And it’s nearly the same with my grandfathers. It’s unusual that my mother and aunt are sisters as well as my father and uncle are brothers, which means that two sisters married two brothers. My second uncle, brother of my mother and my aunt, is still unmarried though he’s over the thirty. Right now, he’s working as a storekeeper.
I visit my father’s parents regularly about every two weeks but I don’t see my mother’s parents so much, so they take me to a one-day or a few-day trip from time to time. For example, I was in Paris with them.
My uncle and my aunt have a son, that is my cousin and he is seventeen, studying high school focusing on computers as me, but he’s not a good student. They all live about thirty kilometers away form us, so we meet them on holidays or occasionally only. My aunt works as a post woman (delivers letters), and my uncle is a basic school teacher.
So far, I am not married so I have no mother in-law or father in-law. No member of my wide family is divorced, so there is no ex-wife or ex-husband, neither widow nor widower. Also, my parents didn’t divorce so I have not any stepmother or stepfather, stepsisters, stepbrothers or half-sisters, half-brothers.
At home I don’t have to help a lot because our flat is not as large as a house. I usually wash up, clean my room and all that jazz.
My family is really important for me although my parents are very moody. They always help me and I think I can rely on them. Even though sometime they say or do things I don’t like, I know it’s for my best. I appreciate that I have been living in a calm relationship of my parents without frequent arguments and that they are respectable people. These lifestyle conditions cannot be taken for granted.
