At first, I have to say that I have always been surrounded by many friends since I began to attend basic school, but most of my relationship ended as soon as we stopped going to the same school. Fortunately, I have been keeping my friendship with some of them including Peter – the best friend I have ever had.

I met him for the first time in the first form. He seemed to me like a usual and normal young boy, so we talked to each other very soon. We found out we have a lot of things in common, and also have things to talk about.

Peter is a lively young man, of my age, lives in the same town as I do. His parents are divorced, and he has been living with his grandparents. I know them and they are very kind and pleasant. He sees his mother at least once a month, and visits his father once a few months. Maybe, it is strange because his mother lives in Vienna and his father is from Brno. But his dad often calls him, so it is not because he has not been interested.

Peter has a medium figure and is a bit taller than me. He has short black hair, a straight nose, rather a wide smiling mouth, expressive feature in his face and does not have to wear glasses. He is very calm, well-balanced and at ease by sight.

As children we spent a lot of time together that is probably the reason I perfectly understand him and he perfectly understands me. I do not even think we are the same because the truth is we are not. Our characters differ because he has different aims in his life than me, which has showed up now when we have grown up. Unlike me, he is not so ambitious, careful, orderly and hardworking. But we have opinions, ideas and thoughts in common, so we can talk about what we are interested in for hours, discuss our problems and so on.

He is sensitive and so am I, but honestly I am trying not to be. Next, he is skillful, sincere, which I respect, tactful, helpful, very polite, very friendly and likeable – many people like him. I guess he is not shy, he is not easily angered or touchy and not really patient. On the other hand, he is much more irresolute, his recent life experiences taught him to be distrustful, suspicious and wary. He is also tolerant and warm-hearted. These all were the qualities of his character which I like him for.

At school he has not been doing well, belongs to average students. I think, he is a clever guy, but he applies himself to learning too little time. And what is the worst thing, if he gets a bad mark he does not blame himself for not studying properly, but says he cannot achieve better results. He underestimates himself and gives up things before he really tries, which I do not agree to. But he has never failed an exam, always has gotten through it.

He has similar interests as me. He is keen on computers, music and films, likes talking about various things. Also he is a social type so sometimes we go out just for a walk or to some party for fun, to the cinema or something like that. He hates smoking, drugs and getting drunk to unconsciousness and I do not like it either.

I absolutely trust Peter, because we have been friends for a long time and he has never disappointed me. I remember we argued only twice in the past but we must make peace up in a few minutes. We cannot live with that feeling even for a day, we cannot be without each other. I never want to lose him, hope we will stay friends for all our lives. By the way, we have the same view of girls that makes our friendliness much more strong.
